Hi. I'm Camilo Menjura a Colombian musician based in London with a brand new website! [I'm quite excited :D]. It's been quite a process to get here... you know, 22 years of studying guitar, a degree in Mathematics, three years of Classical Guitar studies, two years of English, a Music Access Course, a Degree in Music Performance and Production... all that plus the experience gained by being part of the church choir when I was 10, until my most recent coral project the London Colombian Choir, that with a lot of bands I've played with from the school rock band when I was 14 til the band I had a concert a couple of hours ago in Camden Town. So to have experience on stage, be versatile, and good at what you do is very important but it's not only about being a good musician :S. Like many self employed people out there making their living out of what they love (in my case MUSIC) we have to do it all!!!
You have to study, be creative, write, record, meet people, listen to good sources of inspiration, teach, get money -important-, facebook, twitter, website, publicity, bla bla bla..., plus have a social life, go out, meet other people swimming on the same sea with you so you don't feel alone, dedicate time to yourself, quality time..., work on your inner needs, meditate, think, plan, decide, do, and keep rolling.
I've got a website... what now? I know! I sent the link to my website to a friend of mine (my housemate) and his first question was: so do you have business cards with the link? I guess that's the next thing to do apart from keeping the website updated, and keep working on it to have a more complete selection of things I am willing and proud to share. What do I want to do with my music? the answer is easy, transform people's lives so with that in mind, I'll do my best to spread it and all other things I get while doing that would be a plus.
I don't know how far my music is going to get but I'm sure that if you are reading this, perhaps you'll check the links in my page and my music will get to you, so the domino would start making its dance.
See you soon!
